Nike Sportswear Bespoke: The Results

So this dude The Mayor (oye on the rap nicknames) just got in his Bespoke Studio Air Force 1s. You might remember hearing about his 1000th pair that Nike did for him as kind of a thank you for blowing well over 10 grand on the brand’s simplest shoe in the portfolio (after the Cortez).

Nike Sportwear Bespoke, for those of you not quite caught up yet, is the Nike iD studio on steroids located in the Nike Sportswear flagship store in NYC at 21 Mercer Street. The Bespoke Studio allows users to customize 31 different parts of the shoe, in a variety of luxury fabrics and threads, and while right now you can only do AF1s in NYC, the program will likely roll out to other silhouettes and cities. It’s not cheap, with the price for a session at the Bespoke Studio and the sneakers clocking in at a cool $800. Recession pricing? Yeah right.

So we’ve been wondering what the Bespoke Nikes actually came out like. The sample images we’ve seen have been impressive, but these photos by The Mayor, hosted on Sneaker News, are the first pair that we’ve seen that someone has actually done. The detailing is really sick, and if we were into Air Force 1s and had money to burn we’d be lining up for this service. If that sounds like you, hit the jump for the detail shots. What do you think? Worth 8 bills?

Sole Attacker Goes After George W. Bush

It’s been fairly a quiet weekend in sneaker news (Jeff Staple and Hiroshi must be playing Candy Land somewhere) but the talk of the sole nation is President Bush dodging shoes thrown by an Iraqi journalist that whizzed by his chock-full-of-knowledge dome at a news conference earlier today.

We must say Dubya possessed cat-like reflexes by ducking as the man flung his Florsheim’s footwear at him totally avoiding the TKO by leather shoe. It was reported the disgruntled journalist yelled, “ This is a farewell kiss, you dog!” as the shoes skimmed over our President’s head. After the life-threatening incident President Bush shrugged the attack off saying “So what if I guy threw his shoe at me?” and also joked, “It was a size 10.” The man ended up being wrestled down by other people in the room, and Bush came out unscratched, signifying the first real win he’s had over an Iraqi person, ever.

LA Gear Launches, Spring Preview

L.A. Gear KAJ in Gold

The Notorious 80s and 90s brand, L.A. Gear, has just been bought up by a new set of garmentos keen on taking your sneaker-nostalgia money. Isaac from Sportie L.A. is the first retailer to co-sign on with the brand, and the retro silhouettes will range in price from $100-120. That’s a lot of money for non-Nike Jordan rips, but there are some of you out there looking for this kind of thing. So, L.A. hipsters, it’s up to you. If you buy these up, the brand will go on. If not, it’s off to the Salvation Army.

Play it cool this holiday, and hit the jump to see the full spring line. We cracked the company site and got the shoes that the other guys didn’t. Hehe. You know the L.A. Lights are coming for Fall. Happy Friday homies, and tell us your thoughts in the comments.
