Get to Know: Deathwish

Bookmark and Share

Images of the Supra x Deathwish Suprano Hi and Diablo leaked today, sparking the Internet and getting everyone all hyped up about more Supras. But can you really go all in on a collab without knowing anything about it?

When the Melvins Nike SBs dropped, no one even knew that the Melvins were a band. Let us take you through the Deathwish brand so you can at least pretend to know what you’re doing when you wander into the skateshop. Hit the jump if you “have a Deathwish,” or if you want one at least.

#1: Deathwish makes skateboards
Yup. It’s a hardgoods brand. For now. Basically it’s the next Baker team, the guys are all crossovers from there. Kids like it because the company is tough, and the guys are good, even if the deck graphics suck. Why not get them to buy a Baker board and a Deathwish board? It’s business.

#2: Andrew Reynolds is behind it

Andrew Reynolds is the man when it comes to skateboarding. Every kid wants to be him. When Andrew Reynolds smokes cigarettes, the kids smoke cigarettes (oh by the way he stopped, so all you 14 year olds can do the same). Reynolds is, and has been, on Baker since the beginning, but he doesn’t get all of the Baker money. So what does one do when still under contract? You start another company, build it up, and wait for your contract to run out, and then go there exclusively.

#3: Jim Greco and Erik Ellington are the face

Everyone on all of these teams is a little intense, but these two are the main guys. Reynolds is like the boss, Greco is the hair band freak, Ellington is mad dirty and Antuwan Dixon is a crackhead. No really, he is a crackhead. Throw a little Terry Kennedy in the mix from time to time, and you have quite the little team there.

#4: Supra, Brigada, Deathwish. They’re not the same, but they’re all kind of the same.

Andrew Reynolds is on Emerica ’cause he’s famous, but other than that everyone else is on Supra. Why? Everyone likes to party, and Supra is like the rockstar skate brand right now. Ever since Muska opened the L.A. doors, everything is all good. As far as Brigada, it’s eyewear by Terry Kennedy, Jim Greco, Erik Ellington, and Andrew Reynolds. Hey, we all skate the same boards and wear the same shoes, might as well make some extra money with these glasses, right?

#5: Antuwan Dixon really is a crackhead

Check the Deathwish logo tat on the neck! Crazy ass. Basically the Deathwish crew wants you to believe that they are hard. They’re all good at skateboarding, and they’re all a little nuts. If you buy the shoes on a fashion play, maybe go for the gold Skytops instead. It might save you some grief.

#6: You know what? Fuck it. Just watch the video
