Sneaker News: February 4, 2009

At the end of the day, sometimes we just want classic silhouettes in wearable colors. Here’s a simple Air Max 90 that should be U.S-bound in a few weeks. [KOF]

Yo Jeff Staple, these black-on-black Sea Stars crap on your Converse Pigeon design. Isn’t that ironic. [Ctothejl]

Reebok continues the Reverse Jam overload. Two new colorways have hit overseas as part of a “Splatter” pack. [Hypebeast]

Jeff Staple x Converse Frustration (Sea Star Hi)

It’s not easy being a sneaker collaboration super hero. According to Jeff Staple’s Twitter, the Converse x Staple Sea Star Hi was set to drop 2/7. It’s online at Colette already, ready to be bought up with the click of a mouse. Oops. So much for a coordinated global release.

But come on Jeff, this isn’t Nike. Converse has all kinds of holdups. Weren’t these shoes supposed to come out in early November? That’s what the October issue of Complex Magazine said, at least. Oh well, if you want to see the new Converse deck shoe mids (the style of Spring ‘09), check the jump.

• Apparently the Internet does run shit. After commenters pushed for these Lupe Fiasco patent Converse Chucks to be made, the brand went to the lab and mass produced them. Look for them to drop soon as part of Converse’s spring 1Hund(red) artists series. [HighSnobiety]

CONS Skate Map And Detail Shots Of CTS

CONS skate map zoomed in on NYC

Converse
dropped its skate line, CONS, this month to core shops across the US, and the CTS shoe has brought the brand some solid shine. While perusing the converseskateboarding site, we came across this interesting little application the company created on top of a Google Map. Basically you zero in on where you live, or where you’re going to, and the map provides you with a series of art galleries, skate spots, skate shops, and food spots that are worth checking out. We don’t know why no one thought of this before. Great job, guys. Now just perfect it.

If you want some new closeups of the CTS, check the jump where we have detail shots of the heel padding, sole, and some interesting parts you may not have sen yet, like a lobster detail on the inner tongue tab. We’re guessing it has something to do with the fact that Converse is based up in Boston. Cop ‘em now buy using that little ap on the company site

Converse x UNDFTD Poor Man’s Weapon

Converse will be dropping this UNDFTD Special Make-Up of it’s Poor Man’s Weapon this February at UNDFTD stores. The shoe was originally set for earlier (Vapors had it on the cover of its sneaker issue back in September, and then it was planned for Jan), but the shoes took a little while to get put together, and UNDFTD didn’t want it to conflict with its other drops.

The Poor Man’s Weapon is a new lifestyle silhouette that creates a vulcanized Chuck Taylor-esque hybrid of the Original Weapon, and this version takes inspiration from flight jackets with a tough padded nylon. Hit the jump for additional photos of the Weapon, which will be a run of 700 pairs, dropping in February (think Valentine’s Day weekend) for $75.
